WHERE HOUSTON'S HEROES MEET
VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS
OF THE UNITED STATES
No One Does More For Veterans.
Our Mission: To foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. To serve our veterans, the military and our communities. To advocate on behalf of all veterans.
Our Vision: Ensure that veterans are respected for their service, always receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of this great country.
To the Colors
We take service to our country seriously and believe in showing the highest respect for our nation's most sacred symbol. From flag etiquette and history, to regularly hosted flag retirement ceremonies, VFW Post 8790 continues to guard our nation's colors.
A Gathering Place
It's a bond like no other. The military forges friendships that last a lifetime and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8790 has become a gathering place for veteran camaraderie for over sixty years.
Inside our Post, you'll find veterans of every era - from World War II to Iraq & Afghanistan - all enjoying each others' company and that special bond that soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines all share. We were there. We appreciate your sacrifices. And we look forward to having you at our Post.
One might even say being invited to feast upon a savory steak with some of America's warriors is the closest you might come to a taste of Vahalla.
Engaging Leaders
VFW Post 8790 is proud to host civic and military leaders at our hall, offering leaders an opportunity to engage with Houston's veterans on key issues. As patriotic Americans and military service members, our membership represents key stakeholders in our community.
Creating Community
We take pride in hosting community events and bringing the people of Houston together for fun and fellowship. We host games, steak night, painting parties, exercise classes, and more. Plus, if you are looking for a safe and clean place to host your next gathering, stop by the post and we'll help you throw a great party!
Advocacy
The VFW is one of the most respected voices in Washington D.C. and within local governments across America. We advocate for justice for our nation's veterans, service members and military families on an array of issues and continue to be the voice for veterans everywhere. We regularly testify before Congress, meet with elected officials and rally our national network of VFW members and patriotic supporters to ensure our lawmakers put veterans first. When those who've served their country and those that support them stand together, we can not be ignored.
Community Action
The true character of America is measured by her communities and the people who work to improve them. Whether at a national level or in their own backyards, our members dedicate millions of hours each year working to spread patriotism and honor our nation's heroes.
For decades, we've understood that the youth of today will be the leaders of tomorrow. That's why the we remain dedicated to establishing programs designed for young people and educators - offering everything from college scholarships to classroom resources for teachers.
Honoring the Fallen
We take service to our country seriously and believe in showing the highest respect for our nation's most sacred symbol. From flag etiquette and history, to regularly hosted flag retirement ceremonies, VFW Post 8790 continues to guard our nation's colors.
