WHERE HOUSTON'S HEROES MEET
VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS
OF THE UNITED STATES
No One Does More For Veterans.

Our Mission: To foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. To serve our veterans, the military and our communities. To advocate on behalf of all veterans.

Our Vision: Ensure that veterans are respected for their service, always receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of this great country.

To the Colors
At VFW Post 8790, we take pride in upholding the highest respect for our nation's most sacred symbol - the flag. From flag etiquette and history to regularly hosted flag retirement ceremonies, we remain steadfast in guarding our nation's colors with honor and reverence.
A Gathering Place
The bond forged in military service is unlike any other, and VFW Post 8790 has been a place for veterans to strengthen that connection for over sixty years.

Inside our Post, you'll find veterans of every era - from World War II to Iraq & Afghanistan - coming together to share stories, camaraderie, and the special bond that unites all who have served. Whether you are a seasoned veteran or recently retired, we welcome you to join us, share in camaraderie, and experience the spirit of belonging.

One might even say being invited to feast upon a savory steak with some of America's warriors is the closest you might come to a taste of Valhalla.

Engaging Leaders
At VFW Post 8790, we are honored to host civic and military leaders in our hall. These engagements offer a platform for leaders to discuss key issues with Houston veterans, fostering mutual understanding and collaboration. As patriotic Americans and military service members, our membership is proud to serve as key stakeholders in our community
Creating Community
We believe in the power of bringing people together. From hosting games, steak nights, painting parties, and exercise classes to organizing community events, VFW Post 8790 is a hub for fun, fellowship, and connection.

Advocacy
The VFW is one of the most respected voices in Washington, D.C. and within local governments across America. We advocate for justice for our nation's veterans, service members, and military families on an array of issues. From testifying before Congress to meeting with elected officials and rallying our national network supporters, we fight to ensure lawmakers put veterans first.
When those who've served their country and those who support them stand together, our voices can not be ignored.
Community Action
The true character of America is measured by its communities and the people who strive to improve them. Whether at a national level or in their own backyards, our members dedicate millions of hours each year to spreading patriotism and honoring our nation's heroes.
We recognize the importance of investing in today's youth to shape the leaders of tomorrow. That's why we remain dedicated to establishing programs designed to support young people and educators. By offering college scholarships and classroom resources for teachers, we continue to make a lasting impact.

Honoring the Fallen
We take service to honor America's heroes seriously. At VFW Post 8790, we pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice by hosting ceremonies, preserving flag etiquette, and organizing events that honor their legacy. Their courage and sacrifice remain an inspiration to us all.
