Who Can Join?
Membership is open to individuals who are at least 16 years old and related to a veteran eligible for VFW membership. Eligible relationships include:

Husband/Wife

Widower/Widow
-
Father/Mother
-
Grandfathers/Grandmothers
-
Sons/Daughters
-
Grandsons/Granddaughters
-
Brothers/Sisters

Step- and Adopted Relatives:
Step parents, step children, step siblings (including half siblings), and adopted family members qualify as biological relatives.
Veteran Eligibility for VFW Membership
To extend Auxiliary membership eligibility, the veteran in your family must meet these criteria:

Earned a campaign medal for overseas service.

Served 30 consecutive days or 60 non-consecutive days in Korea.

Received hostile fire or imminent danger pay. ​​​
Proof of Eligibility
Applicants must provide:

Proof of the veteran's qualifying service (e.g., DD-214, service medal citation)​.

Proof of relationship to the veteran (e.g., birth certificate, marriage license).
