What is the VFW Auxiliary?
​
The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary is an organization committed to honoring and supporting veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their families. For over 100 years, the Auxiliary has proudly served alongside the Veterans of Foreign Wars, contributing millions of volunteer hours and dollars to create meaningful change and preserve the legacy of service to our nation.
Who We Are
Our nearly half a million members come from diverse backgrounds, united by a shared connection: being a relative of a VFW-eligible veteran. Membership is open to biological, step, or adopted parents, children, siblings, grandparents, and grandchildren of veterans who meet VFW eligibility requirements.
Joining the Auxiliary is more than just membership—it’s a chance to honor veterans, support their families, and positively impact your community. Members foster camaraderie and a sense of purpose through programs that reflect our mission of service, patriotism, and education.
What We Do
As part of the VFW Auxiliary, members engage in impactful programs that strengthen our veterans, their families, and communities:

Advocacy: Supporting legislation that benefits veterans and their families.

Veterans & Family Support: Providing direct aid, care packages, and assistance to veterans and active-duty personnel.

Americanism: Promoting patriotism through flag distribution, education, and celebrating national holidays.

Education: Sponsoring scholarships like the Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen contests, and organizing youth activities to foster patriotism.

Outreach: Hosting community events, hospital visits, and service initiatives that bridge connections between veterans and the public.
Our collective efforts include volunteering millions of hours, contributing millions of dollars, and honoring thousands of veterans annually.
