Celebrating 250 Years of Army Excellence

VFW Post 8790 had the privilege of attending the 250th Army Birthday celebration in Houston, an unforgettable event honoring 250 years of the U.S Army's proud history. This event was filled with wonderful people, patriotic performances, and heartfelt tributes, embodying the strength and dedication that have defined the U.S. Army since its founding.

The U.S. Army's journey began on June 14, 1775, more than a year before the signing of the Declaration of Independence, when the Second Continental Congress passed a resolution creating the National Army. Since that day, the Army has played a pivotal role in America's formation and development as an independent nation. Beyond the battlefield, the Army has shaped and been shaped by American culture, influencing everything from technology to business, food, and fashion.

On June 14, 2025, Houston proudly hosted this historic milestone with a grand celebration that united active duty soldiers, National Guard and Reserve members, veterans, civilians, families, and supporters from across the nation. Guests enjoyed patriotic performances, exquisite dining, and commemorative giveaways, with appearances by high-ranking military officials and special guests who brought the history and legacy of the Army to life.

This event was not only a tribute to the U.S. Army's 250 years of service but also a remembrance of its integral role in the nation's foundation and continued strength. From its victorious efforts in the Revolutionary War to its ongoing commitment to freedom and security, the Army remains a cornerstone of America's greatness.
